Karen Hicks, Kenyon College

I have attended events organized by the PUI network at ASPB meetings over the past two decades, and served as a panelist at the PUI workshop in 2017. I value the faculty development opportunities that these events provide, as well as the connections they foster between colleagues at PUI institutions. Over the past year, I have been involved in efforts to form the PUI section, serving first as a member of the committee that drafted the proposal for section status, and more recently as part of the current leadership group. I am excited to continue the work to formalize PUI section status and to implement and broaden our activities as a member of the steering committee. In addition to serving the needs of PUI faculty at all career levels, I am interested in contributing to further development of the PUI section as a resource and community for graduate students and postdocs who are interested in PUI careers. My previous experience at Kenyon College as a department chair, program co-director, and as PI of an institutional NSF grant, as well as my experience on faculty committees, prepares me for the collaborative work that this position as a steering committee member will require.
